My Review:
Where the f**k do I even begin with this book? Like seriously, how do I even review this book? Why is it always so hard to review a book you loved without just gushing and screaming “READ THE BOOK JUST READ IT OKAY” at everyone? Honestly, I think that would be a perfectly reasonable review, but I’m sure you’re here to actually read a proper, detailed review, right? Well then, here goes… (Prepare for a hot mess of a review, you’ve been warned…)
So, this book starts off where Gemina left off, and we are introduced to new characters once again. I really loved that in each of the books we get to meet new main characters whilst also still seeing some of the old characters, and I felt like in Obsidio we definitely got to see a lot more of the existing characters from the previous two books, which was damn wonderful. I loved each and every character in this story, which also scared the crap out of me because HOW CAN THEY ALL SURVIVE AND LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER LIKE I WANT THEM TO????? Of course, I’m not going to spoil anything, but this book was definitely a rollercoaster of emotions, let me tell ya. But more on the emotions and story later, for now, let’s focus on the characters.
These characters were all so interesting and unique and fun, and I loved their friendships and relationships and how they were just like a huge family and *starts crying thinking about how amazing they all are and how beautiful their friendship is*. They are all so smart and sassy and wonderful, and let’s not ever forget about AIDAN, everyone’s favourite artificial intelligence. AIDAN is such a unique and complex character and I just loved it so much, like it just added such an interesting and crazy dynamic to the whole story.
Moving onto the actual story, I mean, what can I even say? Amie and Jay never fail to surprise me and leave me speechless and desperate to know what’s going to happen next. They are sci-fi masterminds and the amount of thought and research and DETAIL gone into this series just astounds me. AND THEN THERE’S THE WHOLE UNIQUE FORMAT OF THE SERIES LIKE WHO EVEN THINKS OF THAT AND HOW DAMN COOL IS IT?????? You find yourself so totally emersed in the way the story is told and don’t even realise how quickly you’re flipping through the pages because you’re so wrapped up in what’s going on and all the graphics and designs and it’s just such a unique and amazing reading experience overall.
This book was a perfect ending to a brilliant trilogy. It was full of twists and packed with action and all the emotions and it literally killed me (no but seriously, my name is on page 100! I ACTUALLY DIE WOOOOOO!!!!!!). Overall I honestly could not fault this book. Amie and Jay have outdone themselves with this trilogy and although I’m extremely sad that it’s over, I cannot wait to see what this epic author duo come up with in their next big book series.
My Rating:
Have you read this book yet? Or this series? What were your thoughts?
Not gonna lie, I totally want to reread it by listening to the audiobooks, but I really should focus on my never-ending TBR first…
Until next time,
I love this series so much! I’ve read all three, but I’m now listening to the audiobooks with my husband. I absolutely love them. They are so good and I can’t recommend the audio enough.
