time for a Q&A!

Hey friends! I thought it was time to do another q&a on my blog, and after asking if you guys on Instagram if you would be interested in one (which you all were, thank god), here it is! I was also supposed to post this last week, but ya girl got lazy and didn’t finish it in time. BUT HERE IT IS NOW, OKAY?

If you could read only one book over and over, what would it be?

God, this is the worst question I swear. Like it’s TOO HARD TO CHOICE JUST ONE! So, I’m gonna cheat a little bit and say The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon. I mean, it’s one of my favourite series and it’s only 3 books long (so far), and there are more books to come, so like, at least I still get to read new books? I KNOW IT’S CHEATING BUT THAT’S MY ANSWER I’M NOT CHANGING IT!

What was the most unexpected thing you learned about running social media centred on books and the reading community?

This is such an awesome question!!! Also another tough one, gosh. I think the most unexpected thing I’ve learnt is that there are so many other book lovers out there. Honestly, when I first made my account I had no idea it would gain anywhere near the number of followers it has today. Like Y’ALL CRAZY!!!!! But it’s so nice to see so many people reading and loving books, and it’s even better when you connect with like-minded people and make such good friends, too.

And what I learned about the book community? Well, I think the biggest and most important is that everyone has a different opinion. Some people love your favourite book, and some hate it, and that’s completely okay. You also gotta make sure you don’t take someone’s opinion personally. If a person doesn’t like your favourite book/character, it is not a personal attack on you. Yes, some of us will get defensive over our faves, but make sure you don’t cross the line and start insulting/hurting others. (Damn, that got deep…)

Hardcover or paperback?

Paperback for sure!

When did you start reading? From what age?

I’ve always enjoyed reading, but I started avidly reading when I was about 16.

What was it that made you love reading so much?

I just love being able to escape into a different world and pretend you’re a completely different person, living a completely different life to your own reality. It’s just such an awesome and amazing experience and nothing else compares.

What are your favourite animals and why?

I’m a pretty big animal lover, but I think my favourite will always be cats. And no, that doesn’t mean I hate dogs (because they are just as beautiful), but I just love cats a little bit more.

What inspires you the most with your writing?

Gosh, tough question. I haven’t actually written anything in like 3 months (I am very sad about it and I’m hoping to get back into it next month), so at the moment? Nothing… But usually, other writers/authors inspire me, as well as reading and getting lost in all these different worlds and different writing styles.

What are the first books that come to mind when someone asks for a recommendation?

I always find this super difficult, actually, so usually I ask the person a few questions first to kind of get a feel of what the person is looking for/what they would enjoy the most. Like, what genre does this person usually read? Is it YA or Adult? Contemporary or Fantasy? Do they like series or stand-alones? Romance or heartbreak? Once they’ve given me a bit of information, then I can usually give a better recommendation.

But for the sake of this question…

  • The Bone Season
  • The Hate U Give
  • The Infernal Devices
  • They Both Die At The End
  • Easy
  • Fangirl
  • Six of Crows
  • Stalking Jack the Ripper

Favourite books in genres you don’t usually reach for?

Gah, this is such a tough question! Maybe Stalking Jack the Ripper? It’s a YA mystery thriller which I love but I don’t seem to reach for too often (possibly because there aren’t too many out there). Also Saga, because I have literally read one other graphic novel and Saga is amazing compared to it!

Dream travel destination?

I’d love to visit Europe again, in particular, Rome, Amsterdam, and Mykonos, as well as the Maldives and the East Coast of America!

What is one thing you dislike about Instagram?

Apart from the algorithm???????????

Who are your favourite bloggers/youtubers?

I don’t watch much youtube anymore, but a few I still enjoy would be PeruseProject, Piera Forde, Bella Fiori, The Sorry Girls, Cartia Mallan, and Claudia Sulewski.

What is your favourite book of all time?

STOP IT OKAY THIS QUESTION HURTS!!!! But I do have an ‘All-Time Favourites‘ post that you can check out for my ultimate faves.

Out of all the photos you’ve taken, which is your favourite?

I love this question!!!! There are quite a few photos that I’m pretty proud of, but I think my favourite is my ‘Books in the Bathtub’ pic! It got a lil bit of backlash because people were worried the books would get wet (???) (I mean, the bathtub was empty and dry so ???) but a lot of people really loved it as well! It was like when my creativity for Instagram was at its peak and now it is non-existent *cries*. Here’s the photo I’m talking about anyway.

Who is the most inspiring book character to you?

HMMMMMMM….. Inspiring is hard… Like, all the main characters in fantasy worlds are pretty inspiring since they literally go through hell and never give up and like that’s pretty inspirational, but I think Cath from Fangirl, mostly because I relate to her so much as well.

A book that has been on your shelves, unread, the longest?

Well, I’ve thankfully just unhauled a ridiculous amount of unread books from my shelves, but I know there’s still a few that have been with me for YEARS! I think the longest is either The Lunar Chronicles or Legend (I have a feeling I bought them around the same time, which was like 5 years ago)…

Weirdest Instagram DM?

Hahahaha oh god, where do I start? So, I don’t know why, but for some reason, I always end up with the strangest DMs on Instagram. I’ve shared a few with my friends (because they’re too weird not to share) but here’s one of my strangest for your enjoyment.

Favourite tea/coffee?

I’m pretty boring when it comes to tea and coffee. I enjoy English Breakfast tea with milk and a Latte for coffee.

That’s all the questions for now! I hope you enjoyed/learnt something interesting about me!

Until next time,
