get my tbr under 100: 2018 challenge

You’re probably thinking, ‘isn’t it a little late to be setting a challenge for 2018?’. And look, you could be right, since we are practically halfway through the year, but I’m going to attempt it anyway. JUST TRY AND STOP ME!!!!

Anyway, time for some backstory. I recently unhauled quite a few books from my shelves (which is extremely therapeutic and I highly recommend) and afterwards, I decided it would be interesting to see how many books left on my shelves are actually unread vs. read. So I counted the ones that are unread (which are thankfully less than my read books), and I was actually quite surprised. Then I thought, hey, wouldn’t it be nice to get that TBR under 100 by the end of the year?

And here we are.

So basically, I’ve written down all of my unread books on a document in my computer, and I’ve decided to pick some to read this year in order to get my TBR under 100. I also decided it would be a good idea to share those books with you guys. Mainly I just want to see if I can stick to it and see how many I actually knock down by the year end, but also, maybe the fact that you will all know what books I should be reading will push/guilt me into completing this bizarre challenge.

So anyway, here’s my current stats (as of June 2018):

Total number of books: 360

Number of unread books: 136

Number of books to read for the remainder of 2018: 36

Now, reading 36 books in 6 months isn’t too impossible. I mean, I read 60 books last year and around 63 the year before, which is an average of 5 books a month. Obviously, half of that would work out to be 30, so reading 36 books before the end of the year should be manageable. Of course, there is the issue of being busy with life things or getting hit with that dreaded reading slump, but we are going to try and do this, okay? WHO’S WITH ME?!

Alright, here is my loose TBR for the rest of the year. I picked 36 of the books that were currently on my shelves, but it’s highly likely that I’ll haul more books and want to read new releases/other books that aren’t on this list (more like I will 100% haul more books okay it’s not my fault I swear). I also suck at sticking to TBRs anyway, but as long as I get under 100 at the end of the year (even if it’s by unhauling more books) then I say LET’S DO IT!

Until next time,
